Our Programs
Safe@Home
Next Date: TBA The Safe@Home Program takes a multi-faceted, holistic approach towards home safety and security. The program includes how to “harden” your home, how to make it less attractive to intruders, the NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home class, as well as best practices for the safe storage of firearms. Our vision for this program includes an old safe donation program where Armed & Safe will remove an old gun safe and repurpose it to a family in need. Firearm Literacy Classes
Next Date: April 9th, 2018 A persistent obstacle to open and productive conversations on firearms, their use, and their role in our society is a pervading lack of knowledge regarding firearms. Words have meaning and, in order to foster an environment where communication and understanding can flourish, Armed & Safe conducts the Firearm Literacy Class in hopes of facilitating a productive conversation about firearms. Interaction With Law Enforcement Seminar
Next Date: TBA Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) have a challenging job that requires them to interact with a wide swath of society; from the law-abiding to the not-so-law-abiding. Interacting with an LEO while carrying a firearm can create stress for the citizen and the officer. Armed & Safe offers the Interaction With Law Enforcement Seminar to provide firearm owners who regularly carry their firearm to go over the “Dos and Don’t’s”. The seminar is conducted in conjunction with local police departments to give students an opportunity to conduct “traffic stops” and other scenarios, to reinforce best practices, and increase both citizen and officer safety. Firearm “Buy-Backs”
Next Date: TBA Firearms are a ubiquitous part of American society. Armed & Safe recognizes that defense of self is a natural right and that armed self-defense is a civil right, in conjunction with the Bill of Rights and the Supreme Court of the United States in Heller and McDonald. However, we also recognize that the right of firearm ownership comes with awesome responsibilities and that not everyone is willing or able to assume those responsibilities. We will gladly exchange any complete, manufactured firearm for a pre-paid debit card to those who wish of dispose of them. There will be no questions asked upon exchange. Those exchanging firearms will receive a receipt, issued by a concealed carry permittee (NC CHL acts as a Brady Alternative), along with a $50 pre-paid debit card. Armed & Safe will ensure the firearm has not been reported stolen and is safe and legal under the National Firearms Act and applicable state law. The firearm will then be transferred to a federal firearms licensee for disposition. PLEASE NOTE: BECAUSE ARMED & SAFE IS A 501(c)3 NON-PROFIT, WE DO NOT MEET THE DEFINITION OF “ENGAGED IN THE BUSINESS” OF SELLING FIREARMS PER 18 USC §921 (a)(21)(C), AS WE DO NOT OPERATE “…WITH THE PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE OF LIVELIHOOD AND PROFIT…”. PROCEEDS FROM OUR NON-PROFIT ACTIVITIES ARE RETAINED BY ARMED & SAFE IN ACCORDANCE WITH 26 USC §501 (c)(3). LoadSafe
Next Date: TBA Armed & Safe believes that a comprehensive knowledge of all the components of firearms is essential to the safe ownership of firearms. To that end, we proudly offer our LoadSafe class, which will cover the safe reloading of metallic handgun and rifle cartridges, as well as shotgun shells. Additionally, because practice is critical to establishing and maintaining safe firearm use and handling, we will make our reloading workshops available for use to those that have completed the BuildSafe class. By reducing the cost of ammunition, while educating firearm owners about ammunition, we can help to increase training and knowledge, helping to improve the overall safety of firearm ownership. PLEASE NOTE: BECAUSE ARMED & SAFE IS A 501(c)3 NON-PROFIT, WE DO NOT MEET THE DEFINITION OF “ENGAGED IN THE BUSINESS” OF MANUFACTURING AMMUNITION PER 18 USC §921 (a)(21)(B), AS WE DO NOT OPERATE “…WITH THE PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE OF LIVELIHOOD AND PROFIT…”. PROCEEDS FROM OUR NON-PROFIT ACTIVITIES ARE RETAINED BY ARMED & SAFE IN ACCORDANCE WITH 26 USC §501 (c)(3). BuildSafe
Next Date: TBA Learning how to build a firearm teaches the builder how every composite component operates and thus imparts a comprehensive knowledge about the features – and limitations – of that firearm. To support this comprehensive knowledge, Armed & Safe is excited to announce our BuildSafe class, where students will be guided through the process of building a firearm from an unfinished frame or receiver using the tools and equipment under the control and domain of Armed & Safe. PLEASE NOTE: BECAUSE ARMED & SAFE IS A 501(c)3 NON-PROFIT, WE DO NOT MEET THE DEFINITION OF “ENGAGED IN THE BUSINESS” OF MANUFACTURING FIREARMS PER 18 USC §921 (a)(21)(A), AS WE DO NOT OPERATE “…WITH THE PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE OF LIVELIHOOD AND PROFIT…”. PROCEEDS FROM OUR NON-PROFIT ACTIVITIES ARE RETAINED BY ARMED & SAFE IN ACCORDANCE WITH 26 USC §501 (c)(3). FURTHERMORE, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT “ENGAGED IN THE BUSINESS” OF MANUFACTURING FIREARMS, ATF RULING 15-1 DOES NOT APPLY TO OUR NON-PROFIT, EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES. |
